Overview

The server is the beating heart of your digital business, yet most organisations only remember it exists when the site turns sluggish or disappears altogether. PBDP's server management and optimisation means that heart stays under specialist supervision around the clock: web server, database, caching, resources, security and backups, all inside one coherent system. You run the business; we keep the infrastructure fast, stable and current. From a scalable VPS to a dedicated machine in a tier-class data centre, the management model is identical: numeric monitoring, disciplined maintenance and optimisation driven by real load data.

Why professional server management costs less than an in-house admin

The traditional answer was hiring a full-time server administrator. But a good admin is expensive, takes leave too, and keeps the knowledge locked inside one head — the day they resign, an unmaintainable configuration stays behind. In the managed model you do not buy hours from a single person; you get a team of complementary Linux, database, network and security skills. The work starts with an inventory and a baseline: web server (Nginx, Apache or LiteSpeed), PHP version, MySQL/MariaDB state, cron jobs and firewall rules. That inventory is usually surprising: forgotten open ports, duplicated caching layers and queries that take five seconds on an unindexed table. The same report becomes the seed of the optimisation roadmap.

What you get delivered

  • Hardening and baseline configuration: web server and PHP tuned, permissions corrected, firewall and Fail2ban in place — a secure footing before any tuning begins.
  • Continuous monitoring and alerting: resources, services, logs and certificate expiries watched live, with instant SMS and email alerts and a status dashboard.
  • Performance tuning: server-level and application-level caching, queries and file handling; on larger projects coordinated with website performance optimisation.
  • Database administration: query and index tuning, replication, capacity planning and cold-data archiving so growth never turns into paralysis.
  • Managed backups and disaster recovery: off-server versions, periodic restore drills and committed RTO/RPO figures — the discipline behind our backup and migration services.
  • Capacity planning and scaling: resources grow at traffic peaks and shrink in quiet hours, especially on cloud hosting with pay-as-you-go billing.
  • Transparent reporting: a monthly report of uptime, incidents, applied changes and consumption trends written in language management can actually use.

How the work is delivered

  1. Environment audit: services, load patterns, bottlenecks and security risks are identified and the previous admin's configuration is reviewed line by line.
  2. Secure access handover and monitoring rollout: root transferred over a secure protocol, monitoring installed and alert thresholds defined.
  3. Baseline stabilisation: urgent security patches applied, forgotten services removed and risky settings corrected.
  4. Continuous optimisation: weekly caching, query and resource reports, with changes applied in low-traffic windows after pre-testing.
  5. Periodic review: a monthly meeting covering incidents, optimisations and the capacity the coming season will demand.

Scaling: grow before the crowd arrives

The most expensive server mistake is reactive upgrading: when the load bar hits its ceiling, it is already late — users have left and Core Web Vitals scores have dropped. In a proper architecture, capacity growth is planned and automatic. On a virtual server a vertical upgrade takes minutes, but the real point is architecture: separating the web tier from the database, keeping the application stateless and pushing static files to object storage. For projects with wave-like load — campaigns, seasonal sales — combining a dedicated server for the baseline with a cloud layer for the peaks delivers the best cost-to-power ratio. The boundary with 24/7 technical support also becomes clear here: planned monitoring and maintenance belong to this service, while immediate presence during a live crisis runs under that support agreement.

Frequently asked questions

Which operating systems and panels do you manage?

Mainstream Linux distributions — AlmaLinux, Ubuntu and Rocky — with cPanel, DirectAdmin and Plesk panels; PHP/Laravel, Node.js stacks; MySQL, MariaDB and PostgreSQL databases. On the Microsoft side we cover Windows servers and ASP.NET hosting on Plesk as well.

Must we hand over root access?

Yes, but through a secure, logged process: a managed account with full activity logging, credential rotation at the end of each period and, for sensitive organisations, just-in-time access on an account that remains yours. No shared passwords ever travel by email or messenger.

Will server optimisation also make the website faster?

A large share of slowness has server-side roots: time to first byte, caching, heavy queries and resource limits. Image weight and client-side scripts, however, are solved at the application layer. For decisive results we measure both layers together in one engagement and report the numbers before and after.
